Special Announcments Section:

June 3, 2026: Just as predicted, we are beginning to see a slow down in turn-around times for glasses as a result of a petroleum shortage. Although manufacturers have indicated the shortage is in high index 1.74 lenses, we suspect the demand for 1.67 has increased as a result of those 1.74 patients have begun buying up 1.67 lenses. And even 1.67 patients are starting to buy up polycarbonate substrate as well. We apologize for the inconvenience this has created for our patients and we are working diligently to secure in-house, pre-made, single vision lenses as a stockpile against such shortages. However, progressive lenses will experience the most significant delays as these lenses are fabricated once they are bespoken. Progressive lenses also produce the most “waste” as they are not manufactured by injection molded (like single vision lenses) but are subtractively ground down to the final lens shape/prescription. Again, we apologize to our patients for these delays.

March 16, 2026: We generally do not discuss politics unless it relates to the field of optometry. On March 15, 2026, a major chemicals supplier employed a “Force Majeure” legal maneuver. We do not know the context of this particular case but a “Force Majeure” ruling is usually used to claim that an “act of god” has made it impossible to meet business obligations such as repayment of debt, payment of employees, delivery of products, etc, etc. The context appears to be related to activities surrounding movement of petroleum-based precursors to plastics, resins, and polymers. In essence, we suspect a major chemical supplier can not get their petroleum-based precursor materials through the Strait of Hormuz and as a result, have asked a court to intervene regarding delivery of product, payment on said product, etc, etc. We don’t expect this to interrupt our practice in the immediate future but do see a disruption in the near future if the condition surrounding the Strait of Hormuz does not change. The price of ABS plastic has jumped by about 35% in the past few days. Although we do not plan on changing our prices in the near future, we expect the change in price is indicative of scarcity which may indicate a delay in product availability. We will keep you updated as always.

April 19, 2025: We opened in the beginning of 2020 and through the wild $2 trillion stimulus package passed by Congress in 2020 and the $1 trillion stimulus package passed by Congress in 2021 to fight COVID and the economic impact, we never raised prices on eyewear, eyewear lenses, or services. Due to TINY margins and price rises from our distributors, we had to raise prices on contact lenses nearly on a monthly basis, however. As a result of 2025 tariffs, we are implementing our first round of price rises on eyewear and eyewear lenses that will be implemented in the coming months. We will continue to provide the best eyewear and eyecare in this region and source the best products for our patients. These price rises will begin in May 2025 and are expected to be about 10-15% rises from our prices that have always remained the same since 2020. The prices of exams and services will remain the same. We apologize for these price rises but they are out of our control.

We share our thoughts with our patients because we feel you have a say in how we operate. We believe you share our values.

Our upcoming special hours:

We will be closed July 4th Saturday. We apologize for this inconvenience. The roads will also be blocked anyways for the parade.
