Doctor Son Nguyen is Morgan Hill Eyecare Optometry one and only optometrist. He is moving from Site for Eye Sores on Cochrane Road to join Morgan Hill Eyecare Optometry. If you’re one of the thousands of patients Dr. Nguyen has cared for at Site for Sores in the last three years, please consider moving over to Morgan Hill Eyecare Optometry for continuity of care.
Dr. Nguyen is certified to prescribe topical and oral medications for eye diseases as well as systemic diseases that cause eye-related problems. He is licensed to detect, monitor, and treat glaucoma.
Doctor Son Nguyen is a bay area native and has been all his life. He received his undergraduate degree from UC Berkeley and his Doctorate of Optometry from Southern California College of Optometry (now Marshall B. Ketchum University). He spent three years as a biochemist researcher at Children’s Hospital of Oakland Research Institute. Dr. Nguyen’s areas of interest include general family optometry, vision therapy, contact lenses , LASIK consultation, and glaucoma management. To advance his patients’ care, Dr. Nguyen also has a keen interest in material science and industrial design as it relates to lenses design, lens coatings, and manufacturing of lenses and eyewear. His favorite eye disease is glaucoma. In his spare time, he enjoys photography, kayaking, fishing and crabbing, hiking, astronomy (it’s an optics thing), cooking (mostly bread making), and eating. He collects LEGO and is immune to pain when stepping on LEGO bricks. He has a Chihuahua mix dog.
Morgan Hill Eyecare Optometry does NOT have any other optometrists. You will see Dr. Nguyen on your first visit and see him on all follow-ups. It is important that you receive good continuity of care. Next year and the year after, you will see Dr. Nguyen. You will not receive one refraction philosophy one year and then receive a completely different doctor’s refraction philosophy the next unlike “doc-in-the-box” locations and franchises where doctor turnover is very high.

Morgan Hill Eyecare Optometry does NOT employ opticians. Dr. Son Nguyen will be your “optician.” He is probably the only “optician” with eight years of formal education and a doctorate degree. All optometrists know everything an optician would know but not vice versa.
